    5.26.25

Here we go! Lots of good info here so please take your time to read through this email. As always, feel free to ask questions!

Our 2025 theme is #sharks4life. We are keeping it simple and going all in: all sharks all the time!  Lots of fun great white shark swag out there during the summer, so go ahead and start shopping for City Meet.  If you want to help the team get a head start, check out our wish list.

    Practice:

    • Send swimmers to practice in their suits, ready to go (the restrooms are not always open).
    • It is best to park in the lower parking lot since the upper gate will be locked.
    • Big Sharks will start practice at 8am, and swimmers 8 and under start at 8:30am. Everyone will finish by 9:30, but sometimes the little Sharks finish early as they slowly build up the stamina to remain in the pool for the whole hour.
    • Camper practice is 8:00-8:30 for those who need to get out early for a summer camp.
    • Swimmers may wear any one-piece bathing suit (it does not have to be the team suit at practice), brief, or jammer. Remember to bring goggles and a towel. Caps are optional for practice.
    • It is often chilly getting out of the pool in early summer, so be prepared with warm clothes.
    • During practices, parents are welcome to watch from outside the pool area. It may be difficult for you to leave your little swimmer on deck, but please consider taking a walk in the neighborhood, taking the time to do the grocery shopping, or sitting in the shady spot on the hill to read a good book. We ask this so the coaches and swimmers can focus on practice without interruptions. If you are on deck, someone will ask you to leave, so please save us all the bother and stay off deck. Thank you!
    • At the end of practice, we must clear the pool deck and bathrooms by 9:30 so the pool staff can prep for the day. In other words, please do not plan on changing at the pool.
    • If you are a pool member and plan on staying to play, please leave the deck until the pool opens at 10:00. We are so appreciative of our StH home pool and want to continue to keep our positive, symbiotic relationship. Did you know that StH swimmers who join the pool as new members get a discount? Email the pool board for more information  https://stuartheightspool.com/

    Calendar:

    • Tuesday, May 27, 8:30 - New Swimmer Evaluations (if you cannot make this practice, coaches will make placement when your swimmer comes to their first practice)
    • Wednesday, May 28 - all Sharks in the pool!
    • Friday, May 30, 8:30 - New Parent Meeting in the shady spot behind the baby pool side of the property. Please bring a chair and your questions. Members of the board will be there to assist.
    • Board members will be at practices this week (look for the pink hat/shirts) to collect your cash or check registration payment. May 30 is the last day to pay.
      • You can also mail your check StH Swim team c/o Alice Steele, 632 Valley Bridge Rd, Chattanooga, 3745

    RSVP for meets & events:

    • Log into the website
    • Click on EVENT/MEETS CALENDAR tab
    • Scroll down to each meet (yes, it will take a little time)
    • Click the green MEET ENTRY button and EDIT your swimmer(s)
    • Click on the green JOB SIGNUP to volunteer. Every swim family is committed to three volunteer sessions per season, or pay the non-volunteer fee.
    • Remember to SAVE before leaving the page
    • Repeat for each event & meet for the season.
    • It is important to do this for meets you are attending as well as those that you are not able to attend. It really helps the coaches set up our relays and events with ease if we know who is and is not attending.

We are fundraising for a new starter and speakers for the team. Family memberships are just $100 and will be featured on the website (see examples below) and the City Meet shirt this year! Please email [email protected] to confirm your participation.
