Sharks and Minnows and Pink Meet

    Dear Sharks,

We have had another great week of practices!  Great job getting there on time and working hard!

I'm trying to avoid sending several emails, so please read this entire email.

    Pink Meet

Our very first Pink Meet Invite is Saturday, June 11.  Registration forms are attached and have also been given out during practices.  Please return these on Monday along with the registration fee of $5/event/child.  This is a fundraising meet for Emily's Power for a Cure Neuroblastoma Foundation which was founded in memory of Emily Ransom who is the sister of Coach Jon Pat, Senior Swimmer Max and 7-8 swimmer Molly.  Emily's Power for a Cure's mission is EmPowering Families. Funding Research. Fighting Neuroblastoma. We will need lots of volunteers to work this meet, look for ways to volunteer soon.

    Sharks and Minnows

It is time yet again to group our sharks with our minnows. Almost every year, parents and coaches get together to pair our more experienced senior swimmers with our younger ones, a team mentoring program of sorts. The goal of the program is to help the younger kids feel as though they are part of a team that supports them, create new friendships and make sure senior swimmers are engaged and active with the younger groups. If all goes as planned, there will be more signs made, more cheering, more laughing and encouragement, and generally more fun. Everyone benefits.
As a shark (older swimmers), here is how you can help. You will be assigned a minnow. Introduce yourself to your minnow and make friends. Make a sign at a swim meet or three. Finally, check in with your minnow at swim meets and offer some encouragement. Please refrain from buying anything or elaborate gift giving. Home created signs a spirit stuff is the most fun. As sharks, you will make an impression on the younger swimmers whether you intend to or not. Lets make the most of it.
As a minnow (the younger ones), go find your shark and introduce yourself. Check in with your shark and make sure they are happy and having fun. Ask what events they like to swim and then start making signs for swim meets. Again, lets refrain from buying gifts in this setting. Home made stuff will be more fun. Senior swimmers like to be supported too so use your voices and cheer for them!

The Sharks and Minnows list is attached and will also be posted at the pool.

    First Meet

Our first meet is on Monday!!!  We will swim against Cleveland at STH.  The meet will begin at 5:30.  If you cannot be at the meet, please let your coaches know asap.  You can rsvp for all meets at our website http://stuartheights.swim-team.us/.  Let's have a great first meet!  Sharks and Minnows this is a great opportunity to show your support, make some signs over the weekend and be ready to cheer on Monday!
